Ive spoken before about what they really need but it never shows up. These motor sounds are exactly what made ferrari. They need a 4 liter v12, today. Variable cam stuff maintains enough torque. And bike tech makes enough rpm. We’re talking the ability to produce a street able 10,000 rpm 500hp v12 s2000.
It would sound glorious. It would drive glorious. It would be light. I view the 812 as a pig. Yes it performs but so will any fat car laden with electrowhizbang. How about a car that firstly doesn't need that to be enjoyed? Sure gimme leather and gps. But gimme a great sound like this as well!

And every other Ferrari would have to be a Nissan leaf to meet emissions and fuel economy targets

Under the umbrella of FCA, they don’t really have to I think.... just noise regs.

If a 4.0L v12 was feasible
or desirable, they would’ve done it by now... we’re talking about Ferrari; an automaker so impractical
they didn’t mind making a car with
two
gearboxes.

Ferrari doesn’t make feasable. They make and then you want because it is Ferrari ant that makes it desireable.

I think a lot of people confuse “what my friends and I want” with “what people who can afford a new Ferrari want”. Remember they sold the California with a manual and had 2 takers. 612 scag sold 4000ish and 200 manuals. The 599 was worse. People who buy new Ferrari’s and high-end Porsche’s want to go fast. They don’t give a shit how or why that happens.
